WOW! Where does one begin to describe the diverse lifestyles in Havre de Grace?

From lovingly restored, historic homes to modern condos, beautiful villas to downtown apartments, Havre de Grace offers a bit of something for everyone. We're certainly in a growth pattern and it's all because of the fine community, vacation-like pace, mix of businesses, and wonderful views. Add great schools, easy access to the interstate, a unique mix of job opportunities and you have more great reasons to live in Havre de Grace.

Parks, festivals, the arts, shopping and plenty of restaurants are like adding ice cream to your cake and frosting. You just can't beat that! And within minutes you can visit farms, horse farms, and state parks. It's still the best of both worlds - active, business opportunities and relaxing, time-out pace (with nearly everything inbetween!)

Have de Grace is a place the locals love to call home ~ and many visitors would like to do the same. There is a lot of pride in our community as seen by the many volunteer organizations and the efforts of the various museums keeping a living history of our heritage.

From plenty of sports for kids to local theatre, boating and fishing to music in the streets, quiet people-watching from one of the many benches along the downtown area to the fun and frolic of our festivals, there's sure to be something that will make you want to call it home.

Trade-offs!

Growth in any community always creates differing opinions regarding the best way to accomplish our goals. Sometimes we can’t even quite agree on the goals! We’ll never all agree as to what that ‘best’ is. But if you’ve not visited the new pier at the Heron Harbor development on Concord Street, you’ll soon discover a wonderful treasure.

Heron Harbor has plans for condos, a new marina, and a connection to the community by offering a pier that is available for all of us to enjoy. With 110 feet of signature sidewalk and 270 feet of timber, the pier stretches beyond the marina into the Susquehanna Flats. And with it come views for the walking public not available previously from this location. You even get a different perspective on the Concord Point Lighthouse!

We’d all like to keep the waterfront sacred. At the same time, if we were being honest, most of us would love to have our own little chunk of waterfront paradise. But if any new developments can give the public free access to the waterfront, if it’s environmentally sound and economically the project can support itself, then we all can gain something.

The pier at Heron Harbor has given us another wonderful view of the water and the fishing enthusiasts have already discovered its location. The wildlife is astounding in spite of all the human activity in the area.

So follow the city’s signature sidewalk north from the Concord Point Lighthouse. Then walk out on the pier and enjoy the view. Add our famous Promenade and the entire area is a joy to walk, run, play with the kids, take photos, and just enjoy what we all love about Havre de Grace.
