INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS
FIREWORKS PARADE
FIREWORKS & the CARNIVAL
It's always great fun at the carnival & fireworks. This year
the weather was absolutely puuuurrrrrfect!
The crowds begin to gather - this was about 8 pm. Kids are beginning to watch the sky anxiously for signs of the fireworks; parents are already looking weary!

On the (L) you can see in the distance a number of the 'big kid' rides. On the (R) a little guy waits to see what he might have won! Oh...the waiting is soooooo long! :-)
This IS a kiddie ride. Well, I can tell ya... it still looked a bit frightening to me!

This little girl on the left couldn't decide if she liked her ride or not. The folks on the right... are protecting each other. She looks UP... he looks DOWN! Hmmm....

The littlest one on this rides seems oblivious to the potential of danger! hahah
The bank's filling up as they maneuver for good viewing spots before the fireworks begin!
This was ALWAYS one of my very favorite rides. Funny, no one screams and laughs as much any more. :-( But these young people seem to be having fun!
This is another kiddie ride! Hmmm.... They were having fun!
Everyone's all time favorite. Most of us even had our favorite horse or animal on the merry-go-round! We're never too old to enjoy this ride! And the looks on the faces show it!
Okay, time to get serious. It's growing dark and you must have the right glow in the dark items! You MUST!

Awesome fireworks were once again enjoyed by all who attended. Also they lined the Perry Point shore and enjoyed them as well. What fun. And to watch the boaters line up... then later head for home... an evening well spent! What a great tradition! Hope you also had a safe and fun July 4th holiday!

Parade
PHOTOGRAPHER LEO HEPPNER never ceases to fail me with some great shots! Below is a perfect shot of just what it's all about! These soldiers were appreciated by young and old alike as they reached up to shake their hands. We extend a special THANK YOU to our military, civilian support folks and their families. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Here we find Leo has captured the 'fun' of the parade! Kids just love to interact! (In case you've not guessed - this IS my favorite national holiday!)
Awaiting the start of the Parade... the entire UNION AVENUE looked just like this!

Next block up waits patiently... the clock is seconds away from Start Time!

And along with the header photo... THIS is what the entire parade was all about. Politics aside... there was continued applause for our military! Young and old stood to honor the flag and every member our Armed Services - present, past and yes - future!

Now tell me these aren't just the cutest!!!

Discussing the latest unit that just went by...

The Young Lady on the left kept right up with the big girls! And the young man on the right was awed by these uniformed young soldiers! Just before I took the shot, he was marching!

These folks entertain themselves while they wait for the parade to get to them!

These kids are enjoying.....

THIS!!! (Look at the faces on the two little guys closest to the clown!

Enjoying the rhythm of the bands and clapping for every uniformed soldier that went by...

Event grown-ups celebrate their colors!

FRED - I thought you were looking forward to this opportunity to drive the firetruck.... where's that smile!?! (I know he was really having fun!)
(L) A nother view of the crowd excited to see the parade rollin'! And the guy on the right... my goodness, he did a handstand and pedaled from one side of his bike... AWESOME!

This was one of the premier party porches!!!
You know who you are!!!

Now he's got the right idea... you pull ME, grandma!!!!

It's always special to enjoy the parade with Friends!
Hi, Norm - Hi, Bob! And hi to you Carol! (she was hidden behind the post!)

PHOTOGRAPHER LEO HEPPNER gets the photo I didn't. This young lady, I think, rode the entire parade in this manner. (Tough to explain to kids why they should wear protective headgear!) But - hats off! - to this dynamic duo. Obviously she has an awesome horse! (Thanks, Leo)
Although our schedule this year was very different, the parade felt different... those that went enjoyed a perfect afternoon. Whoever ordered the weather, I need to talk to them about scheduling my vacation!!! Thanks to all the hardworking folks on the Parade Committee!
